Hematology department
Hematology department was organized in 1971. The department provides specialized and high-tech medical care to patients with various diseases of the hematopoietic system (hemoblastoses, anemia, various hemostasis disorders).
The hematology department is the clinical base of the Department of Hospital Therapy of the Irkutsk State Medical University (head of the department Prof. Orlov GM), where students, interns, residents, therapists, hematologists from the Irkutsk region, the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Republic of Buryatia , The Trans-Baikal Territory.
In the hematology department:
- Diagnosis of blood system diseases (cytological, histological, cytochemical, immunophenotypic, cytogenetic and immunohistochemical studies of tumor cells, bone marrow, lymph node, liver biopsy of tumors (if necessary under the supervision of US or CT), study and typing of blood coagulation disorders, diagnosis of anemic syndrome, immunological , bacteriological, virological studies;
- treatment of acute and chronic leukemia, (Treatment is carried out according to modern methods, according to standard protocols with the observance of doses, the rhythm of drug administration, with the use of protocols of maintenance therapy (antibacterial therapy, hemocomponent, enteral and parenteral nutrition) .If necessary - plasmapheresis, cytapheresis, extracorporeal methods detoxification;
- treatment of aplastic anemia, hemorrhagic diathesis, thrombophilia;
- monitoring of ongoing treatment.
Since 2016, autologous transplantation of peripheral blood stem cells has been performed in patients with multiple myeloma.
